An afternoon of high school sports was cut short by a strong spring hailstorm last Thursday, sending Decatur and Kent-Meridian track athletes running for the shelter of the Memorial Field bleachers. Out on the baseball and softball diamonds, where the Todd Beamer girls' softball team hosted Kentwood and the Eagles' baseball squad took on the Titans, the umpires called the game as buckets of rain and ice pellets blew sideways in from the southwest.
